Real change in aussie with bad kidneys after starting tripe
We struggled with our aus shep weight n condition , thought it was just from working, vet kept having us feed higher protein and cond got worse, we took him to a higher rated and she right away thought he had failling kidneys, we don't know if it was from birth or accident, he had like 6% function or something, switched to meds and prescription food, he didn't hold weight well on that food plus it had wheat. Plus its was super expensive.I started researching what kidneys actully did, what was hard on them and started making my own food but im busy, we tried the grandma lucys premix with tripe and after a year on it, we had check up and although vet felt it was a higher protein than shed like, she said not to change because he was doing so well, no weight or stool issues, no allergies. Shiny coat. We were feeding him unlimited sports dog food begore, with the prescription food (can was 5% pro) 3-4 cans a day, the tripe we feed 1 a day and a cup of dry pre mix. The tripe is very low in phosphorus which is something hard on kidneys, tripe has natural enzymes n stuff, easy to digest. Lamb tripe is 10% protein. The premix we use is a 10% dry protein .
